Manages a group of security officers who ensure the protection of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare's facility. Develops and enforces security procedures and regulations. A Brief Overview
Manages a group of security officers who ensure the protection of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare's facility. Develops and enforces security procedures and regulations. Acts as a liaison to all departments on security measures, procedures, and needs. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

What you will do
  • Manages operations responsible for controlling site access, which includes inspecting vehicles, checking in visitors and checking for employee name tags.
  • Conducts investigations on incidents that occur on the property requiring competence to research information, questioning individuals and filling out necessary paperwork; makes decisions on the severity of the situation and determines the need for further prosecution.
  • Assesses security problems; devises appropriate responses; reviews actions with staff; informs superiors of unusual events.
  • Determines security system requirements and recommends additions or changes to Director.
  • Directs activities during emergency situations by staying apprised of emergency response systems, monitoring emergency activities and supervising response personnel.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with local, state and federal agencies; coordinates emergency action plans or joint actions as required.
  • Directs the activities of security officers; review activities and determines the need for special security arrangements.
  • Develops operating budgets for the security department and ensures adherence to the budget.
  • Implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance with security efforts.
  • Keeps Director apprised of any developments or problems that may interfere with process or cause property loss.
  • Trains new officers.

Education/Formal Training Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Associate's Degree Criminal Justice
  • Bachelor's Degree Criminal Justice

Work Experience Requirements
  • 3-5 years Security or law enforcement

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Ability to model integrity and honesty to subordinates.
  • Possession of a valid drivers' license.
  • Demonstrable leadership potential.
  • Ability to understand and prepare moderately complex written materials, such as policy and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with Associates, management and members of the public.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of own and others' work flow.

Supervision Provided by this Position
  • Supervises Security Officers.

Physical Demands
  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: heavy work - exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • The Associate may be required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security - officers, inspection, etc.).
  • Periodically to frequently use physical force to resolve an emergency situation. Ability to successfully participate and complete departmental specific required training that includes physical, hands on training and competencies.
