A Brief Overview

Ensure continuity of care for patients, maintains good relations with other departments and nursing units, and participates in all phases of education, maintenance of records and upgrading of policies, procedures and skills of personnel. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

What you will do
  • Manages Registered Nurse staff and ensures proper coverage for excellent patient care. Educates nurses regarding policies and procedures. Performs orientation and training of personnel
  • Delegates work assignments to Registered Nurses within assigned area.
  • Performs interviews, terminations and disciplinary actions for Registered Nurses in conjunction with assigned leader and Human Resources.
  • Initiates and implements patient care plan. Maintains acceptable standards of nursing care. Accurately and promptly implements physician’s orders.
  • Assists in reviewing and revising policies and procedures. Understands, applies and supports organization, division, and department policies, procedures and standards and participates in departmental and system-wide CIP activities.
  • Administers medications (including conscious sedation) and intravenous solutions in accordance with policy and procedure including required documentation.
  • Responsible for daily maintenance and documentation of Crash Cart and its contents.
  • Maintains standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting.

Education/Formal Training Requirements
  • Associate's Degree Nursing- RN

Work Experience Requirements
  • 1-3 years General nursing or clinical practice
  • 1-3 years Lead, Supervisory, or Management

Licenses and Certifications Requirements
  • BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - American Heart Association
  • Registered Nurse Arkansas - Arkansas State Board of Nursing
  • Registered Nurse Mississippi - Mississippi Board of Nursing
  • Registered Nurse Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Nursing

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Clinical expertise appropriate to the specialty.
  • Communication and delegation skills are essential.
  • Experience where leadership potential has been demonstrated.

Supervision Provided by this Position
  • Supervises’ a team of Registered Nurses.

Physical Demands
  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: medium work- exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • Frequent invasive and non- invasive patient contact.
  • Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
