A Brief Overview
This position is responsible for the overall operations of the RIS/PACS systems providing the delivery and archiving of diagnostic images and associated reports and information. Provides support to physicians, technologists and other medical staff in the acquisition and distribution of digital patient records in Radiology. Works in conjunction with the IS department and other departments to ensure the maintenance and integrity of the patient's radiology records. What you will do
- Oversees and maintains the Radiology imaging information systems to ensure smooth and appropriate functionality of the RIS and PACS systems. Monitors, troubleshoots, and performs systems checks to maintain the integrity of the data flow.
- Works in conjunction with the IS department and other departments to ensure the maintenance and integrity of the patient's radiology records. Assists with systems testing as well as validating database integrity.
- Assists in the development of policies and procedures, budgets, and plans related to RIS and PACS.
- Manages security and maintenance of user profiles.
- Submit work orders or help desk tickets as required to ensure equipment functionality and efficiency. Coordinates service times, upgrades, repairs, and preventive maintenance with vendors.
- Responsible for education and training for end users and for providing user support.
- Responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures.
- Effectively manages resources such as supplies and equipment. Plans work and completes job responsibilities in an efficient and productive manner.
- Demonstrates professional work behavior and excellent customer service routinely in all interactions.
- Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
Education/Formal Training Requirements
- Associate's Degree Radiology
- Bachelor's Degree Clinical
- Bachelor's Degree Computer sciences
Work Experience Requirements
- 1-3 years Clinical knowledge related to imaging
- 1-3 years RIS/PACS
Licenses and Certifications Requirements
- Registered Radiologic Technologist - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to effectively train others in computer skills related to the RIS/PACS system.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to effectively relate and communicate with internal and external customers.
Supervision Provided by this Position
- There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this job.
Physical Demands
- Must be available for on-call and respond within the designated time frame.
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
