A Brief Overview
Responsible for participating in analytical activities of the Centralized Services Department, PAS departments and other areas within the Revenue Cycle, and providing IT support, testing & training for system wide applications with very limited supervision. Serves as liaison to vendor supplier of application software, services & consulting and assumes the Project Manager and/or Subject Matter Expert role as needed. Provides expertise in the design, testing, training, implementation, reporting and analysis of systems that affect the functions of scheduling, registration, insurance verification, authorizations and other system wide revenue cycle departments. Ensures cohesive efforts in standardizing development methodologies and customer support, and assures alignment with current business practices. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
What you will do
- Plans, organizes, develops & completes projects using basic analytical techniques for the Centralized Services Department, Revenue Cycle and other relevant MLH systems operations to meet corporate & departmental goals & objectives.
- Defines and maintains operational parameters for PAS information systems.
- Identifies & plans for current & future Customer requirements, and recommends innovative techniques, procedures & applications to meet the Customers’ needs.
- Maintains & monitors departmental dashboards as well as system-wide key performance indicators and Revenue Cycle related systems & activities which assist in achieving overall performance improvement.
- Defines, assesses and adapts Centralized Services departmental workflows to support Scheduling and Registration systems and other computerized systems as needed.
- Oversees & administers internally developed databases & systems’ productivity & performance reporting for MLH.
- Ensures functional operation & reliability of assigned systems by coordinating the planning & execution through test plans in close coordination with the end user & others as necessary prior to implementing scheduled system changes. Directs & interacts with multiple vendors on behalf of the organization. Acts as primary liaison between the customer & other internal or external support organizations for project management & problem resolution.
- Develops, implements and manages training material & delivery of education relating to Centralized Services, PAS & Revenue Cycle as needed or requested.
- Serves as Project Manager, primary contact, subject matter expert and troubleshooter for Centralized Services related vendors (e.g. Trace, Simplee, Stockamp, etc.).
- Assesses the enterprise-wide impact of proposed technical or procedural changes and participates in the management of the design, development, testing, documentation and support of software utilized relative to or within Centralized Services, PAS or other departments within the Revenue Cycle.
- In collaboration with Information Systems operational and staff functions, provides ongoing coordination of data security, integrity, backup and recovery procedures for Centralized Services, PAS and Revenue Cycle software. Analyzes problems & opportunities of current & future requirements of Centralized Services/PAS/Revenue Cycle application software development from an enterprise perspective, proposes innovative & cost-effective solutions that reflect a thorough understanding of the business, & ensures development & support standards are followed. Evaluates & recommends software products for applicability, compatibility & long-range integration with other systems.
- Serves as liaison between Centralized Services, PAS, Revenue Cycle and IT & assists in the coordination and implementation of shared outcomes, and works closely with System Leadership & Associates to ensure shared goals & outcomes are achieved. Defines, assesses & adapts departmental workflows to support Scheduling, Registration & Precert information systems & other computerized systems as needed. Defines & maintains operational parameters for Centralized Services related information systems.
- Reviews requests for data, analyses data, creates reports and works closely with system leadership, departmental directors, physicians, and other key members of management.
- Provides and coordinates end-user system support for the Centralized Services, PAS information Systems and/or processes at MLH, including analysis and adaptation of departmental workflows, definition of system parameters and testing/trouble-shooting system and process performance problems.
Education/Formal Training Requirements
- Required - High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Preferred - Bachelor's Degree Business Administration/Management
- Preferred - Bachelor's Degree Finance
- Preferred - Bachelor's Degree Healthcare Administration
- Preferred - Bachelor's Degree Information Systems
Work Experience Requirements
- Required - Progressive responsibilities 5-7 years
- Preferred - Access Management Scheduling Systems and Registration Applications 5-7 years
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Expert level knowledge and experience in Windows and Microsoft Office suite of products and related data manipulation and application development tools required.
- Knowledge of applicable micro-computer or mainframe computer application development tools and techniques.
- Demonstrated knowledge of revenue cycle and Patient Access processes and procedures.
- Demonstrated success in project and testing management with demonstrated experience in I.T. commensurate with education/ experience.
- Ability to demonstrate expert analytical skills & some clinical & extensive business knowledge with expertise in one or more of these areas.
- In depth quantitative/problem-solving capabilities including mathematical, statistical & computer skills.
- Ability to understand and prepare complex verbal and written materials and respond verbally or in writing as appropriate. Typical mediums of communication include face-to-face dialog, telephone, memos, and electronic mail.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and to maintain control of own work flow.
- Skilled in developing and implementing long-range plans and programs.
- Ability to work closely with all levels of management, with only limited supervision or guidance, with demonstrated integrity and ability to deal with highly confidential information
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate activities, functions and apply critical thinking skills in testing and diagnosing problems related to computer systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, direct others, and to consistently exercise sound judgment and personal initiative in all circumstances, including stressful and time-pressured situations.
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written, with all levels of Associates, management, physicians, patients and their families including proven presentation and effective training capabilities.
- Must be able to provide own transportation and be able to travel to any area of the Corporation, as needed.
Supervision Provided by this Position
- There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this position.
Physical Demands
- Subject to call back at all times.
- Subject to standard office working conditions with intermittent exposure to noisy computer equipment.
- Required to sit for extended periods.
- Must be able to be flexible with work hours, depending on the accessibility of individuals or equipment involved in projects, system downtime or failures.
- Subject to regular periods of repetitive hand motion as would be expected in the operation of computer terminals and other equipment.
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
