A Brief Overview
The Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible for providing physical therapy treatment to patients under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist and in accordance with professional and organizational standards of treatment. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
What you will do
- Implements patient treatments based on assessment and under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
- Initiates patient and family teaching.
- Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for self-development and enhancement of professional competency.

- Associate's Degree Physical Therapy

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to understand and prepare moderately complex written materials, such as patient records.
- Ability to verbally communicate treatment instructions and patient status to Associates, physicians, patients, and patients' family members.
- Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of work flow.
Supervision Provided by this Position
- There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this job.
Physical Demands
- Exposure to patient body fluids.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
- Ability to read and write to communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals.
- Normal vision, including peripheral vision.
- Ability to lift, push and pull up to 150 lbs., as well as carry up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to stand, squat, reach, bend, walk, twist and sit in one place throughout shift.
- Ability to use hands and feet together for repetitive, coordinated motions.
- Ability to use hands for gripping and squeezing as well as repetitive hand and wrist motion.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
