A Brief Overview
Accountable for day-to-day activities of the pharmacy technicians. Plans and coordinates with appropriate oversight by the pharmacist-in-charge the drug preparation and distribution from the pharmacy. Supervises the orientation, training, and completion of competency assessments of all pharmacy technicians. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
What you will do
- Accountable for day-to-day activities of the pharmacy technicians in the pharmacy (with appropriate oversight of the pharmacist-in-charge). Plans, coordinates, and directs activities to ensure sufficient quantity of medications, supplies and staff to meet the standards of care.
- Supervises the work of pharmacy technicians engaged in medication preparation and distribution.
- Recommends various personnel actions including hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, and corrective actions.
- Implements and monitors quality control programs to ensure safe medication storage and compliance with federal and regulatory standards. Prepares and maintains records and documentation.
- Prepares work schedules for pharmacy technicians and plans daily work assignments for drug preparation and distribution.
- Develops, maintains, and reviews performance standards and job competencies for pharmacy technicians.
- Provides advanced problem solving, troubleshooting, technical assistance, and instruction to pharmacy technicians.
- Responsible for compliance with regulatory requirements and readiness as assigned.
- Performs the duties of a Pharmacy Technicians as needed.
Education/Formal Training Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Technical Degree or Diploma Pharmacy Technician preferred
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
Work Experience Requirements
- 5-7 years Pharmacy technician
Licenses and Certifications Requirements
- Certified Pharmacy Technician - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or
- Certified Pharmacy Technician- National Healthcareer Association required
- Pharmacy Technician - Mississippi - Mississippi Board of Pharmacy

Supervision Provided by this Position
- Directly supervises Pharmacy Technicians in the department; prepares work schedules and ensures adequate staffing of pharmacy techs.
Physical Demands
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force periodically throughout the shift.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
