A Brief Overview
Responsible for assisting with the coordination and monitoring of the departmental Quality Assurance Program, designed to promote and maintain quality patient care, safety, technical standards and regulatory requirements. Collects, analyzes and audits data to ensure that the departmental areas meet all CAP guidelines for accreditation. Helps support the Pathologists by performing administrative duties such as scheduling, coordinating continuing education activities, and organizing travel arrangements. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
What you will do
- Assists in the coordination and monitoring of quality assurance for the pathology lab.
- Coordinates research study/grant under the direction as the Pathologist and carries out study specific procedures.
- Collects and analyzes data for assessing quality assurance.
- Collects, records, reviews & summarizes data for clinical validation.
- Oversees billing for Pathology support of clinical research.
- Provides administrative support to the Pathologists.
- Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
Education/Formal Training Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Bachelor's Degree
Work Experience Requirements
- 1-3 years Anatomic Pathology
- 3-5 years Laboratory
- 1-3 years Regulatory reporting
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of CAP requirements.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft software, including Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and Power Point.
- Proficient with Digital pathology protocols and instrumentation.
- Skill and proficiency in oral and written communication including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
- Demonstrates strong skills in analytical thinking, problem solving, interpersonal relations and group dynamics.
- Demonstrates discretion in dealing with confidential information and sensitive issues.
- Possesses excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to collect and analyze data.
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and organize priorities without direct supervision.

- There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this job.
Physical Demands
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
