A Brief Overview
The Grant Development Program Director is responsible for planning, researching, developing, and submitting grants. Serves as the liaison with senior management, advocacy programs and other areas to link and prioritize funding opportunities for Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center. Supports implementation and post-award documentation. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
What you will do
- Identifies, researches, vets and advises leaders on making proposals; develops and writes program narrative and strategic approach to address funder/MLCO/MLH strategic priorities, logic models, and supporting documents.
- Leads discussions/meetings to decide whether to pursue grants, select best lead applicant and establish strategic approach.
- Collaborates extensively with internal and external Directors, leaders and partners to maximize competitiveness of applications.
- Collaborates to establish budgets, and documents created by others to ensure consistency with narrative. Incorporates feedback, edits and finalizes documents.
- Manages entire application process; determines contents and timeline for completion; assigns grant elements to self or others for completion; directs communications to advance development and completion of applications. Serves as expert for guidance on governmental programs.
- Submits grants and proposals. Also responsible for reviewing, editing and submitting program semi-annual and annual reports for government and philanthropic agencies through their portals; maintains familiarity with various grant portal requirements to ensure access.
- Develops and administers departmental budgets, authorizes expenditures, and monitors budget and grant requirements.
- Maintains and develops a competent, productive, and quality conscious workforce by hiring, evaluating performance, counseling, training, and recommending employment actions for department personnel according to the MH value system.
- Communicates a clear vision of organizational values and expectations while encouraging an environment of Associate involvement and creativity. Promotes a positive work environment and contributes to the overall team effort for Grant Development initiatives.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Community Health,
- Bachelor's Degree Business Administration/Management,
- Bachelor's Degree Health Administration,
- Bachelor's Degree Education,
- Bachelor's Degree Public Health or
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing required
- Master's Degree preferred
Experience Qualifications
- 5-7 years Researching, managing, and writing grants required
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of potential sources of health care contract and grant funding.
- Knowledge of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, federal and university regulations.
- Knowledge of federal, state and/or community funding sources and mechanisms.
- Current working knowledge and ability to utilize Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections.
- Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Ability to provide technical advice and information to leadership and staff in area of expertise.
- Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments and conduct literature searches.
- Ability to effectively display verbal and written communication skills with a wide variety of individuals and organizations.
Licenses and Certifications
- Grant Professional Certified Grant Professionals Association (GPA) preferred
Supervision Provided by this Position
- Manages the Grant Development Manager and Grant Specialist.
Physical Demands
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
