A Brief Overview
The Transfer Center Coordinator is responsible for coordinating inpatient bed assignments for patients at Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare. The incumbent optimizes and prioritizes patient flow activities throughout the System, as well as coordinates and facilitates the patients entry into MLH from other health care facilities. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
What you will do
- Receives and processes telephone calls requesting assistance with admissions and transfers.
- Collaborates effectively with hospital staff, medical staff and on-call specialists.
- Maintains a high degree of familiarity and demonstrates compliance with all established policies and procedures related to coordination of patient referral and transport.
Education/Formal Training Requirements
- Technical Degree or Diploma Nursing - LPN
- Technical Degree or Diploma Paramedic
- Associate's Degree Emerg Medical Tech (EMT)
- Associate's Degree Nursing- RN
Work Experience Requirements
- Bed control
- 1-3 years Healthcare or medical office environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of EMTALA rules and regulations.
- Demonstrate ability to learn new computer programs and perform basic data entry.
- Ability to multi-task in fast paced, call center environment.
Supervision Provided by this Position
- There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities associated with this positon.
Physical Demands
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
