The Educational Coordinator is responsible for orientation and training of new and current Associates, coordinates the Quality Assurance program in Respiratory Care, maintains inventory and supplies, develops and maintains policies and procedures, and coordinates discharge planning regarding respiratory care components. Serves as liason between nursing, physicians, residents etc. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

A Brief Overview
The Educational Coordinator is responsible for orientation and training of new and current Associates, coordinates the Quality Assurance program in Respiratory Care, maintains inventory and supplies, develops and maintains policies and procedures, and coordinates discharge planning regarding respiratory care components. Serves as liason between nursing, physicians, residents etc. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

What you will do
  • Plans, organizes, implements educational programs, workshops, skill reviews, and competency evaluations for current, new and student Respiratory Care Associates. Arranges professional exchange of information with other departments to promote continuity of care, i.e. nursing, medical education and other health care providers.
  • Evaluates and monitors the progress and performance of new Associates, Clinical Preceptors and students. Provides constructive feedback on progress reports and evaluations.
  • Oversees the development, implementation, evaluation and revision of Respiratory Care Policies, Procedures and Protocols. Evaluates and selects Respiratory Care equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Performs other job functions as assigned or requested

Education/Formal Training Requirements
  • Technical Degree or Diploma Respiratory Care
  • Bachelor's Degree Respiratory Care
  • Bachelor's Degree Allied Health
  • Master's Degree Respiratory Care
  • Master's Degree Allied Health

Work Experience Requirements
  • 3-5 years Respiratory care

Licenses and Certifications Requirements
  • BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - American Heart Association
  • Reistered Respiratory Therapist - National - National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist - Arkansas - Arkansas State Medical Board
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist - Mississippi - National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist - Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Respiratory Care

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Possesses maturity, patience, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand and prepare complex written materials, such as patient records and quality assurance indices.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgement.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of workflow.

Supervision Provided by this Position
  • Some supervisory responsibilities may be delegated by the Director to this job regarding various procedures, protocols or special projects

Physical Demands
  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
