A Brief Overview
The Diet Technician is responsible for patient contact, nutrition care, data collection, nutrition education, nutrition screening, communication of patient needs, and other duties as assigned. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
What you will do
- Provides support for the Nutrition Care Process, under direction of the Registered Dietitian.
- Educates and communicates appropriately.
- Demostrates professional development and leadership.
- Demonstrates performance measurement and quality improvement.
Education/Formal Training Requirements
- Associate's Degree Dietetics
- Bachelor's Degree Dietetics
Work Experience Requirements
- No prior work experience
Licenses and Certifications Requirements
- Registered Registered Dietetic Technician - Commission on Dietetic Registration Commission on Dietetic Registration
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Good oral and written communications skills.
Supervision Provided by this Position
- There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities associated with this position.
Physical Demands
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
