A Brief Overview
From a lead position, and working under only minimal direction, functions as a member of various multi-disciplinary teams with complex assignments in Clinical and Business Information Technologies. Demonstrates expert analytical skills and extensive clinical and business knowledge with expertise in one or more of these areas. eDsigns, performs database build, configures, , enhances, and tests complete systems of complex Information Technology systems in support of business and clinical operations. Takes initiative and exercises independent judgment to resolve urgent problems. Provides after hours support for critical systems through an on call rotation. Acts with broad authority when necessary to resolve emergencies. This is a highly visible role in the information systems department and as such requires well-developed interpersonal skills. What you will do
- Supports EHR and other clinical or business information system database application build and maintenance.
- Supports EHR and other clinical or business information system application configuration such as building worklists, Boolean rules, populating masterfiles, CDM, adapting vendor model clinical documentation tools to meet MLH needs, etc.
- Supports EHR and other clinical or business information system report build and distribution configuration.
- Completes assigned tasks in project and/or tracking system; Ensures task assignment completion is documented as soon as the task is completed to prevent delays in a project or assignment. May be assigned to ensure other analysts on team are completing assignments in a timely manner.
- Documents and maintains application design and build documents, including Visio workflow diagrams, build trackers and IT Service Management.
- Participates in interface planning, design, and testing. Demonstrates knowledge of interface potential issues and resolution.
- Contributes to test script creation and perform testing tasks as assigned or needed. Provides lead support in assuring team meeting testing requirements.
- Participates in activities related to project pre-work, configuration, testing, training, activation, and post-live support and stabilization..
- From a Lead perspective, identifies and plans for current and future customer requirements. Analyzes complex business and technical problems. Develops and presents recommendations to IT, clinical, and business leaders.
- Performs Project Manager role as assigned, plans and assigns tasks, and documents work completed and next steps. Complies and assesses user feedback, gathers requirements for application configuration, and reviews application build. Documents and communicates decisions, tasks/assignments, and deadlines.
- Reviews the status of projects and issues on an ongoing basis with leaders..
- Guides workflow design, building and testing systems, and analyzing other technical issues associated.
- Works with training team to develop training materials.
- Supports cutover and activation activities for the functional area.
- Implements approved changes to the system. Prior to implementing changes, notifies manager or director of concerns related to approved changes based on knowledge of application and workflow.
- Serves as a liaison between end users' workflow needs and vendor implementation staff.
- Maintains regular communication with vendor representatives, including participating in project team meetings. Works with vendor representatives, MLH’s clinical and business leaders, and end users to ensure the system meets MLH’s clinical and business needs in regards to the project deliverables and timeline.
- Troubleshoots problems and responds to questions. Provides second tier support for complicate issues.
- Develops, conducts, and/or coordinates information technology and/or information management training programs for clinical departments, medical staff, students and others as required.
- Coordinates new services requests - network, hardware and software for assigned departments. May assign requests to team members.
- Primary support contact for application end users. Is recognized by end users as advanced support.
- Communicates effectively by promoting the flow of information within and outside the department.
- Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for self-development and enhancement of professional competency. Assists Manager with identifying needs and opportunies for Sr. Clinical Systems Analyst and Clinical Systems Analysts.
- Provides after hours support through on call duties for critical systems; Available as next tier support when possible to Clinical Systems Analysts and Sr. Clinical Systems Analysts needing assistance with application and customer problems; ensures that any problem within his/her ability to correct is addressed in a timely and professional manner. Provides service recovery as needed. Implements changes need to resolve ongoing issues.
- Stays current on emerging information technology relevant to assigned systems and opertational areas supported. Advises MLH leaders related to needs based on emerging or existing technology.
- Pro-actively reviews, recommends and implements data security, integrity, backup and recovery procedures.

Experience Qualifications
- 3-5 years Healthcare information systems
- 3-5 years Healthcare information systems implementation/support
- 7-9 years Substitution: Combination of education and experience in application of Information Systems and support with relevant clinical knowledge in a healthcare field equivalent to seven (7) years in lieu of degree requirement.
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated highly developed understanding of operational areas supported, strong project management skills, and organizational skills.
- Knowledgeable about MLH’s policies, procedures, and clinical/business operations. Develops and revises policies and procecdures.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and to consistently exercise sound judgment and initiative in a wide range of circumstances.
- Demonstrated expertise in Clinical Informatics, Heathcare operations, process improvement, and application of technology to improve patient outcomes.
- Expert knowledge of and experience with build tools of the electronic medical record, and other clinical systems.
- Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to read, comprehend and prepare moderately complex written materials such as software documentation.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing information management concepts and methods to non-technical users.
- Ability to travel any area of the organization, both local and remote as needed. Must provide own transportation.

Supervision Provided by this Position
- Leads Clinical Systems Analyst in the department.
Physical Demands
- Frequent on call for emergencies and support.
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
